In the summer of 2017, the Office of Jonathan Tate (OJT) listed their Starter Home Two project in New Orleans on Small Change. They successfully crowdfunded their goal of $95,000, providing the equity they needed to develop the latest two homes in their “Starter Home” plan.
The plan provides an adaptable design framework to difficult-to-develop, irregularly shaped vacant lots throughout the city. The end result is an affordable housing type that brings to market needed housing in New Orleans and activates previously vacant lots.
Real change is almost here. The homes are coming together with the completion of the exterior siding on all surfaces. The interior drywalling has begun in 3609 and 3613 will soon follow. Next up is the installation of interior finishes – paint, tile, and flooring!
