Last week, Chicago. This week, San Francisco.
I’m here to speak at SoCap16, the Social Capital Markets Conference. SoCap bills itself as a “conference at the intersection of money and meaning.” I couldn’t agree more with that mission. It’s what drives everything that we do here at Small Change.
Later today I’ll appear on a panel called “Crowdfunding for Impact.” The panel will feature platforms that are thinking about how investment capital becomes social capital. One platform focuses on supporting neighborhood church programs. Another helps entrepreneurs with a social mission. At Small Change, we’re providing a platform to create vibrant communities by focusing on impactful real estate projects.
Impact is the common denominator. People want to see their dollars do good. In fact, one recent study tabulated that $15.2 billion were invested in impact investments in 2016. The desire to have a positive impact while receiving a meaningful return is only going to grow. And equity crowdfunding is here to capture it.
